In our city, many nurse assistants, teachers, barbers and bank tellers cannot afford to live in the city because most have been priced out of housing. This is a crisis! I will support an ordinance to create a livable wage that will make it easy for our hard-working residents to afford housing in Brooklyn Park. Our city’s workforce is in a constant struggle to keep a roof over their heads. This must stop. I will propose a plan to encourage companies, many of whom are located in the West District, to partner with Hennepin Technical College and Northern Hennepin Community College to train high-ability residents to intern and work for them.
